Two movies featured original Riders:

• Masked Rider ZO
• Masked Rider J

The fairly common theme with Kamen Riders is bad guys capture a poor hapless dude (or dudes) and start to turn them into the ultimate man/bug weapon.

He'll escape before they brainwash him, then fight against them. With the exception of Kamen Rider J, they are strictly human size, and usually fight man/animal monsters also created by the bad guys.

The first (two?) KR were created by the bad guys. The bad guys are trying to create the ultimate fighting machine by performing operations on people. (In the old ones, it is never clear what these operations are.) V3 is created by the first 2 KR because he is injured during a fight with the bad guys.

Black, I think is also created by the bad guys. "Shin" is a from a movie which suppose to be the prelude to all KR. "Shin" is created by combining grasshopper genes with human. He does not have all the special moves and he does not have a transforming motercycle.

J is created by some alien (? A grasshopper looking talking "thing" helped create J) after being pushed off a cliff by bad guys.
