Great News! SPEED RACER is now a new newspaper comic strip. It starts 8/21/00 in the NY POST and nationally in other papers 10/02/00. Make sure your local paper carries it by getting in touch with the Features or Comics Editor and have them contact me at [email protected]! It's drawn in the classic Speed style and will soon be written by Speed himself, Peter Fernandez! Pete was the writer and voice director of the original American show and did the voices of Speed and Racer X. As a devout Speed fan, I wanted you to know. Please spread the word and tell every other Speed fanatic to get their papers to carry it.

• Trixie = Michi Shimura
• Mom Racer =Aya Mifune
• Spritle = Kuryo Mifune
• Jim Jim = Senpei
• Sparky = Sabu
• Pops = Daiskee Mifune
• Racer X (Speed's older brother Rex, who ran away from home many years ago...) = Kenichi Mifune

The voices were supplied by some very talented people:
Speed Racer/Racer X - Peter Fernandez
Trixie/Spritle - Corinne Orr
Sparky and Villains - Jack Grimes
Assorted Evil Guys - Jack Curtis (I think I have these two sorted out correctly)

I have met Peter and Corinne and as well as being wonderful people, they bear a striking resemblance to the characters they portrayed. Peter wrote most of the scripts from a sketchy translation of the Japanese. He is the person responsible for the wonderful names of the characters (Cruncher Block, Lightfingers Klepto, Skull Duggery, Inspector Detector, Calcia Bones...). He also wrote the words for the english Speed Racer Song!

If you are looking for someone to do a good dub, these are the people to do it! They are based in New York. Start harrassing the Video companies now! Don't complain about Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball dubs when there are really talented professionals out there to do the work and do it right!

Tatsunoko has a new Speed Racer show out in Japan as we speak. It looks good and I hope it comes here!
